We are happy to finally present the newest addition to our winery: La Provincia de Prieto Pariente.
The idea of this wine is to show the great viticultural potencial and diversity of the Duero river and the province of Valladolid by blending old vines of Tempranillo and Garnacha located in three different winegrowing areas. “La Provincia” is a complex, delicate wine with a great fruity freshness.

The idea behind the red wine “La Provincia” is to show the great viticultural potential and diversity of the Duero Valley and the province of Valladolid. La Provincia is a blend of old vines (planted between 1941 and 1955) of Tempranillo and Grenache located in three different winegrowing areas of the province: Valbuena de Duero (Ribera del Duero), Mucientes (Cigales) and Pedrosa del Rey (Toro).
“The winemaking style of this wine is based on respecting the characteristics of the terroir of each winegrowing area where the grapes come from. The blend gives us a complex and delicate wine”, explains winemaker Martina Prieto Pariente.
“The 2015 vintage is characterized by a mature aromatic expression, great freshness and refined tannins, giving us a long, silky wine.”
La Provincia de Prieto Pariente 2015, VdT. Castilla y León, is a blend of Tempranillo (50%) and Garnacha (50%) from old vineyards located in the villages of Valbuena de Duero, Mucientes and Pedrosa del Rey. Aging of 11 months in used French oak barrels.
Bodegas Prieto Pariente
The idea of the winery, named after the family name of the siblings Martina and Ignacio Prieto Pariente, is based on the desire to start a winemaking project on their own after having been working and learning side by side with their mother Victoria Pariente in the family winery Bodegas José Pariente (D.O. Rueda).
Martina and Ignacio were certain that they wanted to create a different profile of unique wines. In order to make this profile of wine, they embarked on a journey traveling the region during almost two years in a search of old and historic vineyards throughout the province of Valladolid, influenced by the Duero river, and the mineral hillsides of the mountain area Sierra de Gredos. In some cases, they have rescued centennial vineyards that were going to be uprooted due to their low economic profitability.
The style of the wines has been clear since the beginning: “Wines that express the singularity and characteristics of the soil and climate of each vineyards, in other words, wines that express the terroir through a delicate winemaking process.”
Today, the winery Bodegas Prieto Pariente consists of three red wines and a white wine with grapes coming from different vineyards around Castile and León: La Provincia, El Origen, Los Confines and Viognier de Prieto Pariente.
